Ultrasounds
Our Center provides FREE limited obstetric ultrasounds!
What is an ultrasound?
An ultrasound is an imaging method that uses high frequency sound waves to capture live images in the body. To do this, a lubricating gel is placed on the abdomen by an ultrasound technician. A handheld device (transducer) is then placed on the abdomen to send the sound waves that captures the image inside the body.
Why do I need an ultrasound?
There are three reasons to receive an ultrasound.
Confirm a pregnancy. Self administered pregnancy tests are not always 100% reliable. It is recommended to receive an ultrasound to confirm a pregnancy.
To determine a viable pregnancy. A viable pregnancy is confirmed by cardiac activity and ensuring an intrauterine pregnancy.
Determine gestational age. This step provides insight on how far along into pregnancy you are.
How do I schedule an ultrasound appointment?
You can either call or email our Center to set up an appointment that accommodates both your schedule and our medical staff. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Before the appointment, a member of our staff will get you established in our system by walking you through an intake form and determining your eligibility for an ultrasound by confirming your LMP (last menstrual period) and a positive pregnancy test at our Center.
Once these steps are completed, our nurse and sonographer will begin the ultrasound exam and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. These appointments are confidential and performed in a compassionate, judgment-free environment.
